History
Suresteel Detailing was established in late 2006 to provide a competitive shop detailing service to the construction industry with a focus towards the materials handling sector of the market. We are also a member of the AISD (Queensland branch) and won the Category 2 (Building over 150 tonnes) Y2008 Tekla Strcutures Australasian modelling competition for our Surge Bin model on the DBCT 7X Project. Staff Experience:
Our staff consists mainly of senior detailers with experience exceeding 10 years each, and one trainee detailer. Our staff experience covers a broad range of project types from small residential projects, commercial and public sector projects through to heavy industrial and large materials handling facilities.
Software / Hardware Infrastructure:
- We are using the latest version of Tekla Structures for all of our current projects and have access to versions from 12.0 right through to 14.1.
- All of our workstations are running Microsoft Vista Business 32 bit operating system and each computer is also equipped with Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business Edition.
- We have a standard set of software solutions across our offices to support our activities.
- We have several Autocad (2006 through to 2009) seats which are generally used for access to client drawings.
- Our offices are linked via a permanent VPN connection to allow constant communication within our organisation.
- Our document and drawing management is handled by OM1 office management software package which is a database driven package used for our drawing transmittals and RFI generation and drawing registers.
- Both offices have the highest available speed business grade broadband.
Inter-office Workflow Management:
We are able to manage large jobs by combining the resources of both office at the one time. To do this we first determine interface points and allocate those as battery limits for each office. Then a “Master” model is created which is used each office the template for their model creation. This ensures that each model that is created for the project is in its correct relative position to the other project areas, which in turn makes the interface checks between models faster and more accurate. This master model also allows for each office to prepare their own detail drawings for that portion of work without any ramifications on the other areas and models. The necessary project templates are also created upfront and provided to the team in the early stages of the works. During the course of the project the interfaces are checked by transferring of the models to ensure the interface between the work areas is correct.
